Newcastle United offered Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer boost
A new winger seems to be near the top of Newcastle United’s wish list in the ongoing summer transfer window, after the Magpies have strengthened at the back by bringing in Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope. They have not been able to add to their options on the wings though, despite being linked with several big names.
Moussa Diaby is believed to be the club’s top target this summer but it is expected to take a huge transfer fee to sign him from Bayer Leverkusen. As a result, it is no surprise that the Magpies have alternative targets as well.
Thorgan Hazard and Raphinha have been linked with the club as well, while Everton’s Anthony Gordon also seemed to be someone that the Magpies were keen on.
But as reported by The Sun, Newcastle United have been told to forget about Gordon and so they will explore a transfer bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi, with Chelsea willing to listen to offers.
Newcastle United handed boost in race for Chelsea winger Hudson-Odoi
Hudson-Odoi has been one of the most highly-rated youngsters at Chelsea for a long time but he has never managed to take that step to the next level and establish himself as a first-team star for the Blues.
Now, it looks like Chelsea could potentially let him leave if the right offer arrived and thus, there could be a slight window of opportunity for Newcastle United to make something happen.
While Hudson-Odoi has not fulfilled his potential yet, it must be remembered that he is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of time on his hands. In fact, till now, he has been solid for Chelsea and if he can just take his game to one level further, he can be a serious player for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Thus, if Newcastle United are able to sign someone with Hudson-Odoi’s talent, it would have to be considered as a major coup.
