Newcastle United eyeing £35 million Crystal Palace star

Newcastle United have made a bright start to the summer transfer window. The Magpies were always expected to splash out and they seem to be doing just that. The club have already signed Sven Botman from Lille, Matt Targett from Aston Villa and Nick Pope from Burnley till now, and several more signings are expected moving forward.

One of the latest names to be linked with Newcastle United is that of a Crystal Palace player. As reported by NUFC Blog, Michael Olise has been added to the long list of names under consideration at the club this summer.

Olise is just 20 years of age and has a ton of potential. He has already played quite a bit of football for Crystal Palace although he did not start the previous campaign as one of their first-choice options. He was able to play his way into the team though and had a very promising season overall.

He is believed to have a £35 million release clause in his current deal although Crystal Palace are rumoured to be in talks over a new deal which if agreed, would up that to £50 million.

Olise is one of the brightest prospects at Crystal Palace right now and it should come as no surprise that the 20-year-old is drawing the interest of clubs following his impressive 2021/22 campaign.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Olise made 31 appearances last season for Crystal Palace and played 1503 minutes of football in total, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists.

That is some very impressive efficiency for a player of his age and he would only be expected to get better as he gains more experience.

Thus, if Newcastle United are able to sign Olise, it would be considered as a major coup for the club. Now, it remains to be seen if the youngster ends up swapping the Eagles for the Magpies in the future.
