Newcastle United are expected to make a splash this summer transfer window and we have already seen it start to unfold in front of our eyes. Matt Targett has been signed from Aston Villa after his successful half-a-season loan spell, Nick Pope from Burnley after they were relegated from the top flight and Sven Botman from Lille following a long and hard chase for the centre-back.

Another area that the Magpies are believed to be interested in strengthening is on the wings. They have been linked with Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen and Thorgan Hazard of Borussia Dortmund recently, as well as Raphinha of Leeds United, although he looks to be on his way to Chelsea.

Another Leeds United star has been linked with Newcastle United in recent times though and that is none other than Jack Harrison. The left winger is coming off of a good individual season despite the Peacocks struggling as a team and barely avoiding relegation last time around.

But it looks like while Newcastle United have interest in Harrison, they are struggling to reach a deal for him as the price tag is too hefty. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Alex Crook said:

"“There’s some interest in Harrison. I know Newcastle have enquired, but at the moment, the price tag is too hefty.”"

While most people expect Newcastle United to go out and make a splash in the transfer window by shelling out huge fees, the club have not done that, instead making some very smart signings till now instead.

As a result, one would not expect them to change that approach moving forward. It will be interesting to know what kind of a figure Leeds United are looking for to part ways with Harrison though.

He proved to be a key player for them last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists in 38 appearances for Leeds United in the previous campaign.
