Newcastle United have been linked with a wide number of players in recent times. One of them is Borussia Dortmund’s Thorgan Hazard, who has struggled with form in recent times and the German club are believed to be ready to let him go this summer. On the other hand, it looks like the Belgian is one of the players on the Magpies’ radar.

Hazard had made a brilliant start at Borussia Dortmund and was one of the best players in the Bundesliga a few years back but his form has certainly dipped in recent times.

He is still pretty much in the middle of his prime though and as a result, is an attractive option for many clubs, especially with rumours suggesting that Borussia Dortmund are willing to part ways for a transfer fee around €15 million, which would be considered as a bargain for the Belgian international.

As reported by Sport1, Newcastle United are particularly interested in Hazard but have not submitted an offer yet. It is because they view the Belgian as a Plan B as the Magpies have chosen Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby as their number one transfer target for the flank.

Will Newcastle United end up making a move for Hazard this summer?

On top of his game, Hazard is a great player and can have an impact on the result of a game. He has not been at his best for a while though and has even struggled for playing time at Borussia Dortmund recently.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Hazard made just 30 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring 6 goals and providing an assist.

Thus, there will be a certain amount of risk involved in any move for Hazard. But at 29 years of age and for a transfer fee around €15 million, the risk might very well be worth it.
