Newcastle United are the only club in race for Inter Milan star

Newcastle United are believed to be in search of players up front this summer. A new forward has to be near the top of Eddie Howe’s wish list, as neither Callum Wilson nor Chris Wood were spectacular in front of goal last season. It had looked like the club were closing in on a move for Hugo Ekitike of Stade Reims but that has not transpired till now.

Ekitike can prove to be a spectacular signing for Newcastle United. The young Frenchman enjoyed a breakout season in Ligue 1 last time around and has the potential to be one of the top strikers in all of Europe in the future if he continues to develop at this rate.

But as the transfer sage has dragged on, it is only natural that Newcastle United have been linked with other forwards as well. One of them is Inter Milan’s Joaquin Correa.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Newcastle United are the only club on the horizon for Correa. He is someone who could be let go this summer as the Italian giants look to raise funds.

Correa has plenty of top level experience under his belt, having played for the likes of Sevilla and Lazio before enjoying great success at Inter Milan.

He has not been the most prolific of forwards though, which raises the question about how much improvement he would bring to Newcastle United’s scoring numbers.

He can be an excellent second striker though, if the club can bring in someone who can score more frequently just in front of him.

Correa has also made multiple appearances for the Argentine national team and was part of their Copa America winning squad from last summer.
