Newcastle United have been linked with a wide number of players over the course of the last few months as it looks like Eddie Howe could be looking for reinforcements all over the pitch. One of the areas that they could need to strengthen in is up front, as the Magpies were not the most free-scoring team last season, something that will need to change if they are to challenge the top six next season.

It might be a good idea to sign someone versatile though, instead of trying to sign a different player for every position and it looks like Newcastle United have their eyes on a Borussia Dortmund star who can do that.

As reported by BILD (via Sport Witness), Newcastle United want to sign Thorgan Hazard. Borussia Dortmund are not believed to be against the idea either and could be ready to let him leave for a transfer fee around €15 million.

The 29-year-old Belgian international had been one of the Bundesliga giants’ best players when he first arrived at Signal Iduna Park. Over the last couple of years though, his form has faded away significantly and he is not nearly as important now as he had once been. Thus, it is not hard to see why Borussia Dortmund might be ready to let him go if the offer suits them.

Hazard’s recent form does raise some eyebrows though as to why the Magpies would want to sign him.

While he had been brilliant a few years back, in recent times, he has not made much of an impact at all. In fact, he has been struggling for playing time at Borussia Dortmund.

He is still just 29 years of age though and could have plenty of football left in the tank. On the other hand, Howe is someone who is known to get the best out of players. Could he do something similar with Hazard if Newcastle United are able to sign him?
