Christian Eriksen is a player that Newcastle United have been linked with in recent times. There were fears that his career might be over after his medical scare at UEFA EURO 2020. But that has not happened and instead, he has bounced back, and proven himself during his spell at Brentford and also for the Denmark national team. As a result, several clubs are believed to be interested in the former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur star once again.

Eriksen was very good during his short spell at Brentford but it was a short-term deal and he is set to be a free agent once again this summer.

While a stay with The Bees has not been completely ruled out yet, he is being linked with several other clubs as well. Newcastle United are one of them. But there could be a chance to go to clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as well. Thus, the Danish international has no lack of options.

It looks like Eriksen has held preliminary talks with Newcastle United already. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jacque Talbot said about the situation:

"“They have met. I was told they met on Monday – some preliminary talks – but I think he’s been sort of meeting at various clubs, to be honest, so it doesn’t really count for much. He’s sort of been talking to a number of clubs.”"

So, while nothing to be very excited about, it looks like Newcastle United are an option that Eriksen is considering. That is a good first step but there is a long way to go and several top teams to compete with as well in the race for the midfielder.

On top of his game, Eriksen is a top, top player and at 30 years of age, he should have plenty of football left in the tank as well.

With Newcastle United hoping to push on and challenge the traditional Big Six for the European qualification spots next season, someone like Eriksen would be a magnificent signing for the club, with his experience of competing at near the top of the table for so many years.
