Newcastle United have been linked with some huge names over the course of the past few weeks and months. And it looks like that will continue, as the Magpies are expected to make a splash in the ongoing summer transfer window. It must be pointed out that the club have not made a marquee signing since the change in ownership and it would not be a huge surprise if they did actually pull one off this time around.

Real Madrid have been the best team in Europe for quite some time now, dominating the Champions League over the past decade or so.

Marco Asensio has been one of their most highly-rated players for years now, but he has never been able to break into the first-team picture on a consistent basis though. As a result, despite winning one trophy after the other during his time at Real Madrid, the Spaniard could be looking to leave the club this summer.

And as reported by Cadena SER, Newcastle United, AC Milan and Juventus have been named as three clubs who are interested in Asensio.

Asensio had burst onto the scene at Real Madrid and it had looked like he was destined to be one of the most important players for Los Blancos for years to come. That did not end up happening though.

Instead, he has found it difficult to get any footing in the first-team for an extended period of time, even though he has played quite well when he has been on the pitch.

As reported by Transfermarkt, he scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 42 appearances for Real Madrid last season, as he played 2110 minutes of football.

There is no question about his talent or potential though, and at 26 years of age, it is time for Asensio to make a decision about his future.

He would be an excellent addition for a team like Newcastle United, but, they could find it very difficult to win the race for his signature.
