Newcastle United will look to strengthen in a number of positions across the pitch this summer. One of them could very well turn out to be their midfield. And while most people expect the Magpies to splash out on new signings, there are some very good players available as free agents. Christian Eriksen is one such player.

After his medical scare at UEFA EURO 2020, many people had feared that Eriksen might never play football again. But he has proven himself over the course of the past several months.

He joined Brentford on a short-term deal earlier this year and was superb at the club. On the other hand, he has been very impressive for the Denmark national team as well and as a result, has caught the eye of several clubs around Europe, especially since he is a free agent this summer, with his deal with The Bees coming to an end.

Newcastle United have been offered some hope in a potential chase for Eriksen as well. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ryan Taylor said:

"“I think Newcastle are the kind of club that Eriksen would be open to joining, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens there. But, at the moment, I’m not personally aware of anything concrete to that link, but there might be.”"

Newcastle United have been offered some hope in the race to sign Eriksen this summer

It is safe to say that Eriksen is going to be a player in demand this summer, with the likes of Manchester United also being linked with the player while a return to Tottenham Hotspur could be on the cards as well.

As a result, Newcastle United will have to do tremendously well to convince him to come to St James’ Park, although the team that Eddie Howe is building right now and the performances that they have shown since the start of the year, could certainly be of interest to someone like Eriksen.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for the Danish midfielder, but we can only offer him the best, wherever he ends up from here.
