It has always been believed that the Newcastle United squad could undergo a number of changes over the course of the summer, with both incomings and outgoings taking place at St James’ Park. We have already seen Matt Targett join the club on a permanent basis following the success of his loan spell after joining from Aston Villa in January. The move might have solved the Magpies’ problems at left-back.

On the other hand, Newcastle United are also being heavily linked with moves for Stade Reims’ highly rated young striker, Hugo Ekitike, and Lille’s star defender, Sven Botman. Both players have been linked with the Magpies for a while now and as a result, it would not come as a major surprise if the transfers did end up happening this summer.

On the other hand, there are expected to be exits from St James’ Park as well and it looks like Eddie Howe might be ready to let two players go.

As reported by the Mirror, Isaac Hayden has already been sent out to Norwich City on loan and that move could end up becoming permanent if certain performance-based criteria are met. On the other hand, Jamal Lewis could leave the club following the arrival of Targett on a permanent basis.

Newcastle United could be ready to let two players leave this summer

It is safe to say that the club have already enjoyed quite a bit of success under the management of Howe, finishing 11th in the Premier League last season but their targets must be much bigger than that.

Thus, it will come as no surprise if they splash out in the summer. In fact, it is almost expected, after they shelled out around £90 million in transfer fees in January.

Neither Hayden nor Lewis appear to have much hope when it comes to breaking into Howe’s first-team plans anytime in the near future. Thus, it might not be the worst idea to let them leave, and would make sense for all parties involved.
