Despite Martin Dubravka’s good form between the posts for Newcastle United for several months, the club have been linked with a long list of goalkeepers in recent times as it looks like they are almost certain to make a move for a shot-stopper this summer. And over the course of the past few weeks, it had looked like they had their eyes firmly set on a move for Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

Henderson was very highly rated at Manchester United for years and was believed to be the long-term successor to David de Gea between the posts. In the 2020/21 season, he had even managed to move ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order for the Red Devils.

But ultimately, he ended up losing his place in the team in the very next season and now, it is believed that he is looking for a move away from Old Trafford in search of playing time.

It had looked like the Magpies were closing in on a move for the Manchester United goalkeeper but now, things seem to have taken a rather unexpected to twist.

Surprise twist in Henderson to Newcastle United transfer saga

As reported by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have ruled out a Henderson move.

Someone like Henderson could have been a solid long-term addition for Newcastle United if they were able to sign him on a permanent basis from Manchester United but now, it does not look like a move is on the table.

It will be very interesting to see if the Magpies end up moving their eyes elsewhere or just give up the chase of a goalkeeper, and end up going forward with Dubravka, who to be fair has been quite impressive in recent times.

At the same time though, the club have also been linked with the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga of Chelsea, Bernd Leno of Arsenal, Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City, Jordan Pickford of Everton and several others.
