Newcastle United are expected to make a few signings this summer. The club have already taken some huge steps in the right direction, going from relegation battlers to finishing 11th in the Premier League last season under the management of Eddie Howe. Thus, they are expected to have much bigger targets for the upcoming season.

Thus, do not be surprised to see the Magpies splash out in the summer transfer window and it looks like they are already closing in on one signing.

It is believed that Newcastle United have agreed a move to sign Huge Ekitike from Stade Reims. He is one of the most highly-rated young French players in the world at this point of time. Some of the reports had originally suggested that the initial transfer fee was going to be €36 million which could rise to €46 million with add-ons, but it looks like it is lower than that.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, the initial transfer fee is around €30 million plus there are add-ons worth €5 million:

Newcastle United’s transfer fee seems to be much lower than first reported

Thus, it looks like the transfer fee that Newcastle United are set to shell out for Ekitike is around €11 lower than what had been first reported in the media.

For a €35 million transfer fee, including add-ons, a player of Ekitike’s talent and potential could prove to be a very good signing on the part of Newcastle United. Now, it remains to be seen if they can get a deal over the line but all signs do point to them being able to get it done.

Ekitike took Ligue 1 by storm last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 24 appearances in the French league. Those are great numbers for a player who is still just 19 years of age.
