Newcastle United have been linked with a wide variety of players over the previous weeks and months, with the Magpies expected to strengthen their squad over the summer transfer window. The club already showed their intent last January, shelling out around £90 million in transfer fees and it looks like they have big plans this time around as well, as rumours have suggested that they have already agreed a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Stade Reims.

Eddie Howe has done a wonderful job since arriving as the manager of Newcastle United. Back then, it had looked like they had a tough job on their hands to even stay up in the Premier League. Not only did they avoid relegation though but at the same time, they managed to finish 11th.

Thus, Howe has proven that he deserves to be backed in the summer transfer window and all indications suggest that the club will do that.

Barcelona have passed up the chance to sign Adama Traore on a permanent basis this summer for the option to buy that they had in his loan deal. But as reported by 90min, Newcastle United are interested in the Wolves player, as are Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United.

Newcastle United are interested in the player despite his Barcelona struggles

Traore spent half a season on loan at Barcelona but was not particularly impressive, although he did show glimpses of his ability here and there. That has been the story of his career, showing flashes of brilliance all the time but failing to find the consistency required to be a top player.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he did not score but provided 4 assists for Barcelona in 17 appearances, although he did feature for just 734 minutes of football in total.

The links with Newcastle United are interesting as Traore has struggled to quite get it going for Wolves in recent times as well, after a sparkling 2019/20 season. He has every physical attribute required to be a major star in world football but has never managed to put it all together.
