Newcastle United have been linked with a number of top players in recent times, with the summer transfer window expected to be a big one for the club. One of them is not Kylian Mbappe. Yet, the French superstar’s decision to extend his contract and remain at Paris Saint-Germain has had an impact on the Magpies’ transfer plans.

One player that Newcastle United have been linked with recently is AS Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile. He has been one of the most highly-rated young defenders in Ligue 1 for a while now.

Both Manchester United and Newcastle United are believed to have made failed transfer bids to sign him in the past. But the Magpies were expected to make another move in the upcoming window. Pulling it off has become a lot more difficult following Mbappe’s extension though.

As reported by L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), AS Monaco’s upcoming revenue is expected to make a move for Badiashile difficult. The French club are expected to bring in no less than €130 million in total thanks to Mbappe’s extension and Aurelien Tchouameni’s upcoming transfer exit.

Mbappe’s decision to stay at PSG has made life more difficult for Newcastle United

Badiashile is a player that Newcastle United are believed to have had their eye on for some time now and it remains to be seen if they end up making a move for him this summer as rumours have suggested.

The club are expected to make an addition in the heart of defence. Dan Burn arrived last January and has been a massive success, but it is believed that Eddie Howe is looking for more centre-backs this summer.

Thus, it remains to be seen how things turn out for the Magpies. Badiashile could have been the perfect signing for the club, as the 21-year-old has all the attributes to be a top defender in the Premier League but now AS Monaco will not be in any hurry to part ways with him.
