Newcastle United are expected to splash out in the summer transfer window as they look to climb up the Premier League table further after making tremendous progress under the management of Eddie Howe, and finishing at 11th. It would not be a major surprise if the Magpies end up bringing several new players to St James’ Park over the coming months.

As a result, the club have been linked with several big name players in recent times. One of the latest names on that quickly growing list is that of Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot was one of the most highly-rated young players in world football during his time at Paris Saint-Germain. Since his move to Juventus though, things have not quite gone his way and it is believed that the Italian club could let him leave for a transfer fee around £13 million this summer.

Two of the clubs who have been rumoured to be in the race to sign Rabiot from Juventus are Newcastle United and Chelsea. The Magpies do hold an advantage over The Blues though.

Of course, at this point of time, Chelsea would be a more attractive option for most players. They have Champions League football to offer and compete for trophies consistently. Newcastle United are not on that level yet.

At the same time though, the Magpies are a team on the rise and could be a great project for someone like Rabiot, who needs to bring his career back on track after his struggles at Juventus. It is much more likely that he will get more regular playing time at St James’ Park than at Stamford Bridge.

Also, Rabiot does not share a great history with current Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, from their time together at Paris Saint-Germain, which could play a huge factor as well.
