Newcastle United have a number of talented players in their ranks but even out of all of them, one name that stands out is that of Allan Saint-Maximin. He has been regarded as one of the most highly-rated players in the Premier League for quite some time and on top of his game, the Frenchman is absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, we have not seen him at his best for quite some time now.

Saint-Maximin has appeared to struggle for Newcastle United and as a result, it would not be much of a surprise if the club bring in another player capable of playing on the wings this summer to provide competition.

The Magpies have been linked with several players in recent weeks and months, and one of the most exciting names among that list is that of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Diaby scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 42 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen last season. Those are exceptional numbers and it is not hard to see why Newcastle United might want to bring him in.

Newcastle United take huge Diaby transfer decision

As reported by 90min, Newcastle United would be ready to break their transfer record and pay a fee over £50 million to sign Diaby. But it appears that even that might not be enough to bring the Frenchman to St James’ Park.

It is believed that while many clubs around Europe are interested in Diaby, he is content with Bayer Leverkusen at this point of his career and  the Bundesliga club are not believed to be interested in parting ways with the Frenchman.

Thus, it looks like it would be very difficult to pull off a move to sign Diaby this summer although never say never in football, as anything can happen. Let’s if Newcastle United can get a deal over the line for the French winger.
