Newcastle United interested in signing Everton player
Newcastle United are expected to be looking to make significant additions to their squad over the course of the summer transfer window. We have already seen the Magpies reap the benefits of strengthening their squad in January, as they went from being in the middle of a relegation battle to finishing in a respectable 11th in the Premier League.
The focus has to be on moving further up the Premier League ladder though and potentially challenge for the European spots. With the manner in which the club played in the second half of the season, there is no reason that they could not do that next season.
Eddie Howe needs to be backed in the summer transfer window though and one of the areas that the club could look to strengthen in is the wings.
Allan Saint-Maximin is one of their best players when on top of his game but we have not seen that for quite some time now. Amidst all this, it looks like the Magpies might be interested in an Everton player. As reported by the Daily Mail, Demarai Gray is one of the names mentioned as a potential target.
Newcastle United appear to be interested in the Everton winger
Gray spent a long time at Leicester City but has bounced around clubs a bit in recent times. He spent a short time at Bayer Leverkusen before ending up at Everton.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Gray scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists in 39 appearances for Everton last season.
Gray might have struggled a bit in recent times but there is no question about his potential. He is also just 25 years of age and has plenty of room to get better. Howe has also shown that he has the ability to get the best out of players, thus it remains to be seen if they do indeed make a move for him in the summer.
