Newcastle United are expected to undergo a lot of changes over the course of the upcoming summer transfer window. Eddie Howe has done a brilliant job in taking this side from a relegation battle and guiding them to an 11th place finish in the Premier League. But there is still a long way to go and the Magpies will surely be looking to move up the table further next season, and potentially even try to challenge the traditional ‘Big Six’.

Thus, while Newcastle United are expected to sign some players this summer, the club might also need to part ways with a few of their current ones to make room in the squad.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see who ends up departing the club this summer. One man who has been linked with an exit for a while though is Miguel Almiron, with the Paraguay international struggling to make an impact at St James’ Park in recent times.

There does not seem to be any lack of interest in the player though. As tweeted out by Roberto Rojas, Everton, Fulham, Sevilla and Napoli are the clubs interested in Almiron. But Howe appears to rate him highly.

It is safe to say that Almiron did not enjoy a great campaign by any stretch of the imagination. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 1 goal and provided 0 assists in 32 appearances for Newcastle United over the course of the 2021/22 season.

It goes without saying that those are not great numbers and Almiron will need to improve moving forward.

He was struggling for playing time during the first several months of Howe being the manager of the Magpies but his playing time did increase quite a bit towards the end of the season.

With Howe rating him highly, it is unlikely that the club will let Almiron leave this summer. His current deal with Newcastle United is believed to run till the summer of 2024. But if the Paraguayan international is to have a long-term future at St James’ Park, he will need to improve.
