Newcastle United have been linked with a wide number of players over the course of the past several weeks and months, as the Magpies are expected to strengthen their squad in multiple positions in the upcoming summer transfer window. One of those areas might very well turn out to be the wings.

That is an area of the pitch where they have not looked at their strongest in recent times, due to a combination of players being injured as well as out of form.

One player that the club have been linked with in recent times is Ismaila Sarr, who is expected to be on the move this summer after Watford were relegated to the Championship. Rumours have suggested that the Hornets will look for a transfer fee around £30 million to part ways with their star player.

But as reported by Football Insider, Newcastle United are not prioritising the signing of Sarr this summer. He was believed to be on the club’s list of transfer targets but the recruitment team are set to move other names ahead of him.

Newcastle United are cooling their interest in the recently relegated winger

Even if Newcastle United decide against making a move for Sarr, there is not expected to be a lack of interest in his signature.

For a while now, he has been one of the most highly-rated players in the Premier League not playing for one of the traditional Big Six and has even been linked with the likes of Liverpool in recent years.

At the moment, clubs like Everton and Crystal Palace are believed to be keeping an eye on him while it looks like Newcastle United will be moving their attention elsewhere.

Sarr recently won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal. His club campaign was not the best though, as Watford got relegated from the Premier League. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 22 appearances for the Hornets.
