Newcastle United are headed towards one of the most exciting summer transfer windows in the club’s history. The eyes of the entire footballing world will be on the Magpies, as they expect them to make a splash. They have already spent around £90 million on transfer fees in January and reaped the benefits for it as well, going from a relegation battle to finishing 11th in the Premier League.

Thus, do not be surprised if the club end up making more additions to their squad over the coming months, as their next aim has to be finishing in an European qualifying spot.

One area that they appear to be looking to strengthen in is between the posts despite the good form of Martin Dubravka in recent months. The club have been linked with players like Kepa Arrizabalaga, Bernd Leno, Jordan Pickford and several others in recent months.

Now, as tweeted out by Charlie Bennett, Dean Henderson is keen on a move to Newcastle United and prefers a permanent transfer to a loan deal, as the player’s camp believe a deal is close after meeting club representatives:

Manchester United is keen on joining Newcastle United this summer

Henderson has been very highly rated for a long time now. After a great loan spell at Sheffield United, he returned to Manchester United with the hopes of nailing down his spot in the starting XI there and for a while, it looked like he had succeeded.

Henderson had managed to move ahead of David de Gea in the pecking order in the second half of last season, and although he was not brilliant, he did a solid enough job to hold on to his spot till the end of the campaign.

De Gea was in inspired form this season though and as a result, Henderson has fallen behind in the pecking order once again and has struggled for playing time. Thus, a move to Newcastle United might make sense for all parties involved.
