‘What a professional’ – Eddie Howe praises Newcastle United star
Newcastle United have looked a side transformed ever since Eddie Howe arrived as their manager. Back then, the target was to avoid relegation and just doing that would have been viewed as a success on the part of the manager. But the Magpies have managed to take things several steps beyond that and finished the Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.
The result meant that Burnley were relegated from the Premier League. Interestingly, Howe had managed the Clarets in the past and as a result, it might have possibly been a bit of a bittersweet feeling for him.
The man on the day was Callum Wilson. He has spent several months out of action with an injury and it was only recently that he made his return to the team. He ended up scoring twice against Burnley though to hand Newcastle United all three points.
Howe praised Wilson following the game. As reported by BBC, the Newcastle United manager said about the striker:
"“I’m delighted for him personally. His performances in the last two games have been top class and what a professional he is. We needed him today. He led the line very well.”"

The two goals against Burnley mean that Callum Wilson finished the season as the top scorer of the club. Although he was not prolific by any stretch of the imagination, he did manage to find the back of the net 8 times even though he has missed a large chunk of the campaign.
Newcastle United have been linked with a number of strikers in recent times as it looks like the club are looking for someone who can score on a consistent basis.
Whether the Magpies end up making an addition up top or not remains to be seen but it must be said that Wilson must be kept around the first-team picture as he still has a lot to offer to Howe’s side.
