Newcastle United have been one of the most in-form teams in Europe since the turn of the year, having completed an incredible turnaround, going from team that had looked destined for relegation to one that looks ready to challenge for a top 8 spot next season itself, within the space of a few months.

And just when it had looked like their season was fizzling out, with nothing much left to play for, the Magpies rose to the occasion to leave their mark on the top four race.

Newcastle United got a 2-0 win over Arsenal at St James’ Park, thanks to a goal from Bruno Guimaraes and an own goal from Ben White. This result has left the Gunners’ hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League hanging by a thread.

Chelsea have now secured Champions League football for next season. On the other hand, realistically, Tottenham Hotspur just need one more point from their last Premier League game of the season to do the same, which is against Norwich City. Arsenal on the other hand will now have to hope that their North London rivals lose while they themselves manage to beat Everton.

Newcastle United result impacts Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur

Thus, while Newcastle United might be finishing quite some distance back when it comes to the top four race, they have certainly have had an impact on the seasons of three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, with the 2-0 win over Arsenal. It is worth pointing out that Eddie Howe’s side had lost to both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in recent meetings.

Newcastle United will be hoping to be involved in such top four races themselves over the coming seasons.

Newcastle United have one last game of the season remaining against Burnley, and no matter what happens on that day, everyone at the club can be proud of the job that they have done this season and look forward towards a brighter future.
