Eddie Howe has done a great job since arriving as the manager of Newcastle United in the middle of the season after the Magpies had endured a very poor start. At that point of time, it had looked like they were destined for relegation and even keeping them up in the Premier League would be viewed as a remarkable achievement.

Howe has gone above and beyond though. Not only has he managed to avoid relegation but the club seem headed for a very respectable finish in the Premier League table, and have been one of the best teams in all of Europe since the turn of the year.

Thus, Howe is someone who the club need to back this summer and all signs indicate that they will do that. And now, it looks like Newcastle United have their eyes on a player that the manager had signed during his time at Bournemouth.

As reported by Jeunes Footeux, Newcastle United have targeted Dominic Solanke as they look to strengthen their attack this summer.

Newcastle United have their eyes on Solanke

Solanke might have endured a difficult time at Bournemouth after arriving but he has been incredible for the Cherries in recent times.

He had a wonderful 2020/21 campaign and has taken his game to the next level this time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 29 goals and provided 7 assists in 46 Championship appearances this season.

Bournemouth have secured promotion to the Premier League on the back of his displays and as a result, it is not hard to see why Newcastle United would be interested in the striker.

Their biggest weakness at the moment is the lack of a consistent goalscorer. Callum Wilson spent a large portion of the season out with an injury and was not very prolific even when he was available. On the other hand, Chris Wood has struggled to find the back of the net since his big move from Burnley in January.

Solanke has shown though that when on song, he has no problem putting the ball in the back of the net consistently.
