A lot of rumours have been floating around Newcastle United regarding their summer transfer plans recently. And it is understandable as there is a lot of interest regarding what the Magpies will do. They have already shown their intent by splash out £90 million in transfer fees in January and that has gone a long way in making sure that they avoided relegation and stayed up in the Premier League.

There have been conflicting rumours surrounding their summer plans though. Some have suggested that they will be conservative and take a steady approach to rebuilding the squad. Others have linked them with some of the most in-demand players in Europe like Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Now there appears to be some clarity surrounding the situation and it looks like Newcastle United are looking to bring in four to six players over the summer to strengthen the squad but a lot will depend on who end up departing the club as well. The loan market could end up being important for the Magpies as well.

Luke Edwards tweeted out regarding the situation:

Newcastle United to take steady approach to summer transfer window

This is certainly the right approach to take on the part of Newcastle United. While some fans would love to see them go out and blow clubs out of the water in the summer transfer window, that is not a sustainable or smart approach keeping FFP in mind.

This is going to be a steady rebuilding process and we have already seen that Eddie Howe is the kind of manager to guide them in the right direction through it.

Thus, the fans must keep patience. It was necessary to splash out in the January transfer window in order to stay up in the Premier League. Now that is no longer the case and the team are in a much more secure position. The foundations of a successful future have already been laid. Now, it is about building upon it.
