Eddie Howe makes brutally honest Newcastle United transfer admission
Newcastle United have taken some huge strides under the management of Eddie Howe. This was a side that had looked like it was headed for relegation till the turn of the year. But in 2022, the Magpies have been on a different level and there have been very few teams in all of Europe who have been better than them.
Yet, it is pretty clear that they still have a long way to go before they can truly challenge some of the top teams in the Premier League. The heavy defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur prove that while both Chelsea and Liverpool have gotten the better of them in recent times as well.
The foundations of a solid team were laid in the January transfer window but now, it is up to the club to build upon that in the summer.
And Howe has admitted that he might have to take some tough decisions, and let some players leave who have represented the club well. As reported by The Northern Echo, the manager said:
"“I think every summer I’ve been in management, I’ve had to make difficult decisions at the end of the season.“Players that you love and have a great relationship with, sometimes have to leave for the benefit of the team.“This season will be no different. I’m sure there’ll be players that will move on, who have represented the club in a brilliant way.”"

That is just part of football. A club has to continuously keep evolving and transforming its squad if they are to be successful for a length of time.
Thus, there are some players who have done well for Newcastle United over the years, who might have to be shown the exit door this summer. And while it might be a hard decision to take, they have to be taken for the benefit of the team and the club as a whole.
Howe has not tried to hide that at all and it will be very interesting to see how the team shapes up moving forward. They already have a lot of the ingredients to be successful. Now, it is just about adding those final touches and taking it to the next level.
