Newcastle United told to sign Tottenham star to unlock Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle United made some solid moves in the past January transfer window and they have had a huge impact on the club, helping turn their season completely around. And out of all the moves that they made at the start of the year, the one for Bruno Guimaraes was arguably the pick of the bunch.
Guimaraes had a slow start at Newcastle United but since then, he has very much come into his own and is showing the quality that he has.
Guimaraes is the type of player that Eddie Howe can build his team around moving forward. And interestingly, Newcastle United have been told to sign a player from Tottenham Hotspur to free the Brazilian up further.
The player in question is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. He has been a key player for Tottenham Hotspur this season but it is believed that Antonio Conte is ready to let him leave in the summer as he aims to rebuild his squad. And as reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Pete O’Rourke said:
"“He could be somebody who could maybe do that for Bruno Guimaraes, give him more freedom to go forward and attack, because Hojbjerg is obviously more of a sitting defensive midfielder.“I think, at Southampton and Tottenham, he’s proved that he is a good, top Premier League player who can fit that role.”"
Newcastle United told to make a move for Hojbjerg in the summer to free up Guimaraes
Recent rumours have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur would be looking for a transfer fee around £30 million to let Hojbjerg leave. That is not an astronomical fee in the current transfer market, especially considering the quality that the Denmark star has.
He has been a Premier League regular for both Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur over the years and incidentally, has been linked with a move to St James’ Park recently. He has also played for the likes of Bayern Munich, Schalke 04 and FC Augsburg in the past.
Signing someone with the quality of Hojbjerg would be considered as a major coup on the part of The Magpies. Now, it remains to be seen if a deal for him is actually on the cards this summer. He is not the only midfielder that Newcastle United have been linked with recently either.
Guimaraes’ former Lyon teammate, Lucas Paqueta, has been linked with the club as well, although he is a very different type of player compared to Hojbjerg.
