One would expect Newcastle United to go after a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window. It has been a position of worry for the Magpies in recent times. Callum Wilson is the club’s top scorer this season with just 6 goals to his name. And he has been out of action due to an injury since December. On the other hand, Chris Wood has struggled since his big move from Burnley in January.

Thus, do not be surprised if Newcastle United go after a big name striker when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare for the Belgian striker and he is struggling to even come off the bench at this point of time. That has not stopped him from being linked with moves to some top clubs, one of them being Newcastle United.

But as reported by Evening Standard, Lukaku has no interest in a move to Newcastle United.

Lukaku is not interested in a move to Newcastle United

One would think that Newcastle United fans would not be devastated by this news. Lukaku has not been anywhere near good enough for Chelsea since getting a club record return to Stamford Bridge.

While he did make a bright start to the season, his form has completely faded away since then and at the moment, he finds himself spending the majority of his time on the bench. His last truly great Premier League campaign was back when he was at Everton.

On the other hand, Newcastle United have been linked with a long list of strikers over the past few months. Benfica’s Darwin Nunez or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen would be absolute dream signings for the club. Recently, rumours have emerged about a potential move for Stade Reims wonderkid, Hugo Ekitike, as well. And at the moment, one does feel that all of them would represent better moves than one for Lukaku.
