Newcastle United have not made a statement signing yet since the change in ownership despite splashing out around £90 million in transfer fees in the January window. It looks like the club could go after a big name when the transfer window reopens though in what would be a statement of intent on the part of the Magpies.

The club have recently been linked with Paulo Dybala, who is closing in on a Juventus exit with his current deal with the club running out.

But it looks like Newcastle United might have their sights on one of Dybala’s former teammates as well in the form of Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been at Manchester United since 2016, when the club broke the then transfer record to bring him to Old Trafford. Things have not gone as well as they would have hoped though and after what can only be described as an underwhelming spell at Old Trafford, the French midfield maestro looks set to leave the club this summer as a free agent with his contract running out.

Newcastle United ready to make huge offer to Pogba

As reported by HITC, Newcastle United are interested in signing Pogba according to journalist Miguel Delaney’s weekly newsletter for the Independent. It is believed that The Magpies are ready pay the Frenchman more than £300,000 per week to join them in the summer.

It is safe to say that signing Pogba would be a game changing move on the part of Newcastle United. But at the same time, one has to question whether he would be a good signing.

While he has been brilliant here and there, overall, Pogba has not managed to impress in the Premier League over the years. Thus, one has to feel that there might be better moves to be made out there for Newcastle United.

On the other hand, it feels unlikely that Pogba would want to come to St James’ Park at this point of time either, with clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and others being linked with a potential move.
