Newcastle United handed transfer boost by Arsenal
Newcastle United are expected to strengthen all over the pitch in the upcoming summer transfer window. While The Magpies have done a great job since the turn of the year and climbed up the Premier League table, they cannot rest on their laurels. The improvement of the squad must continue if they are to compete with the Big Six.
Eddie Howe has shown that he is capable of guiding this team to big things. Now, it is about whether the board are ready to back him in the summer. All indications till now have suggested that they are.
One area that Newcastle United are believed to be looking to strengthen in is between the posts, which is a bit of a surprise to be honest as Martin Dubravka has been one of their most consistent players in recent times.
But it appears that Howe might be looking to strengthen at goalkeeper. They have been linked with quite a few high-profile names in that position. And as reported by 90min, Bernd Leno remains a key target for Newcastle United, and Arsenal are set to let him leave.
Newcastle United handed transfer boost as Arsenal ready to let Leno leave
Not too long ago, Leno was considered as the long-term future of Arsenal at goalkeeper but it is safe to say that things have changed since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale, who has established himself as one of the best between the posts in the Premier League this season.
Thus, the German goalkeeper is no longer the first-choice at Arsenal and as a result, is expected to be headed for the exit door.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle United do end up making a move for the 30-year-old. They have also been linked with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Dean Henderson in recent times. And both of them could be better options than Leno, if the club do indeed end up signing a new goalkeeper in the summer.
