Newcastle United suffer Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer blow
One area of the pitch where Newcastle United definitely need to bring in reinforcements is striker. The club’s top scorer till now Callum Wilson, who has been out of action since December after he suffered an injury in a game against Manchester United. And the former Bournemouth man was not the most prolific either before he was sent to the sidelines.
On the other hand, the club did make a big move for Chris Wood in the January transfer window and brought him in from Burnley. Even the most optimistic Newcastle United fan would also admit though that it has not worked out as one would have envisioned at the time the club shelled out a £25 million transfer fee for the New Zealand international star.
Wood has barely found the back of the net for The Magpies and it is pretty clear that this team needs a consistent goalscorer up top.
One player that they have been linked with on-and-off for a while now is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He seems headed out of Everton soon, as the Toffees fight to stay up in the Premier League and recently entered the relegation zone.
Newcastle United suffer Calvert-Lewin transfer blow
Newcastle United have suffered a transfer blow in the race to sign the Everton star striker though.
As reported by Football Insider, Calvert-Lewin prefers a move to Arsenal over Newcastle United and has told his friends about his desire as well.
Arsenal have made some solid progress this season as well and are fighting for a top four spot at the moment and are even considered the favourites to get it by many following their wins over Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Magpies have been linked with a number of strikers other than Calvert-Lewin as well though, including high-profile names like Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
