Massive Lucas Paqueta to Newcastle United transfer claim
Newcastle United shattered their transfer record to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon in the January window. After a slow start at St James’ Park, the Brazilian has very much come into his own in recent weeks and put in some stunning performances for The Magpies. And he is starting to look like a player who could be a mainstay in this team for years to come.
Newcastle United could make further additions in their midfield over the summer transfer window though and they have been linked with Guimaraes’ former Lyon teammate, Lucas Paqueta.
Guimaraes has admitted recently that he would like to reunite with Paqueta at Newcastle United and the club have been linked with the midfielder as well, who is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around £58 million, which would mean that The Magpies would have to break their record again, if they want to reunite the Brazilian duo in the middle of the park.
Amidst the rumours and speculation, former Newcastle United star, Olivier Bernard has made a massive claim. As reported by Chronicle Live, he told Newcastle Fans TV:
"“I’ve got a really good feeling about Paqueta. He could be on his way. Once you get one, you get them all. To be honest, it’s a snowball for me. I’d love that, and I know they’re talking so it looks good.”"

Here, it is worth pointing out that Bernard played for both Lyon and Newcastle United during his career.
Paqueta could be an excellent signing for Newcastle United. After a failed stint at AC Milan, he has resurrected his career at Lyon and looks like a tremendous player now. Also at 24 years of age, he would be expected to only get better with experience. He already is a regular in the Brazilian national team though.
Paqueta’s connection with Guimaraes is another thing worth keeping in mind when weighing up the pros and cons of a potential move. But at the same time, Lyon are believed to rate him at a transfer fee around £58 million.
