What a job Eddie Howe is doing as the manager of Newcastle United! The club were deep in the middle of a relegation battle when he arrived and since then, The Magpies have made a turnaround that not even their most optimistic fan could have expected. They are now up to 9th in the Premier League and a finish in the top 10 looks very much on.

It goes without saying that Howe deserves tremendous credit for that, as do the players, many of whom arrived only in January but have already made their presence felt at St James’ Park.

No team in the Premier League has earned more points this year than Newcastle United other than Liverpool. And Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the running for a potential Quadruple. That just goes to show how good The Magpies have been under Howe.

Naturally, his great work is being noticed by many, including club legends like Alan Shearer. As reported by BBC, he said after the game:

"“Eddie Howe deserves great credit.“He made changes again to the team that got a good result in the week [against Crystal Palace] so the players that came in responded.“The signings, the confidence, the belief that Eddie has given Newcastle has been outstanding when you consider they were five points adrift in 19th when he took over. It’s been an incredible turnaround.”"

Eddie Howe has turned around the fortunes of Newcastle United since arriving

It has to be pointed out that the club did splash out around £90 million in transfer fees in the January transfer window and many expected that to help them to stay up in the Premier League. But not many could have predicted how well they would go on to do.

Thus, Newcastle United must back Howe in the summer transfer window and if they do, there is every possibility in the world that they could challenge for a top six spot next season, if they can continue to perform at the level that they have since the turn of the year.

A top 10 finish is in the sights for Newcastle United but it will be difficult, with games coming up against Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal. But as we have learned over the past few months, never say never. Take a bow, Eddie Howe.
