Newcastle United have been arguably the most impressive team in Europe since the turn of the year. Not too long ago, they seemed destined for relegation. But following the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager, the club have made undeniable progress, to the point where it looks like there is a decent chance that the Magpies could finish in the top half of the Premier League table. They currently sit on 11th.

That is remarkable when you think about it and it will be very exciting to see how far Howe can take this team, especially if he receives backing in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United have been linked with a number of players over the course of the past few weeks and months. One of them is Christian Eriksen, who has been superb since joining Brentford on a short-term deal in January.

Newcastle United are not the only ones interested in Eriksen though. As reported by i, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing back Eriksen and are keeping a close eye on his situation.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in Eriksen transfer battle

A reunion with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur might be very attractive to Eriksen. There is expected to be plenty of interest in his signature though with several other clubs also believed to be looking to sign him. Newcastle United are just one of them.

It is not hard to see why there is such interest either, as he has impressed for both Brentford and the Denmark national team over the past few months, and looks like a player who can contribute to any team.

If Newcastle United are able to sign him, it would be considered as a marquee signing on their part. Other than them and Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United are also believed to be interested in Eriksen while the possibility of him deciding to stay at Brentford cannot be completely ruled out either.

Eriksen’s current deal runs out in the summer and thus, he will be a free agent at that point of time.
