Newcastle United appear to have secured their place in the Premier League, after reaching the 40-point mark with their win over Crystal Palace, thanks to a sensational goal from Miguel Almiron on the day. Now though, the focus must turn towards finishing the season strong and there is the chance that The Magpies could finish in the top half of the table. That would have been unthinkable a few months back but that’s how quickly things can change in football.

The club might already have one eye on the upcoming summer transfer window as well though. They splashed out £90 million in transfer fees in January and after how well the club have done since the arrival of Eddie Howe, one would expect them to back the manager.

While Newcastle United have signed quite a few players recently, they have not made a marquee signing since the change in ownership. Do not be surprised if they do that in the summer.

And as reported by SPORT, Newcastle United are willing shell out a €40 million transfer fee and match his Barcelona salary, to sign Philippe Coutinho.

Newcastle United are ready to make huge move for Coutinho

Coutinho is currently on loan at Aston Villa, from Barcelona, and there, he has shown that there is still a player in him who can perform at the Premier League level, even though he might have struggled since leaving Liverpool.

Signing someone like Coutinho would be a statement of intent on the part of Newcastle United but at the same time, he is just 29 years of age and should have plenty of football left in the tank.

Howe has already shown the ability to get the best out of players and if he can do that with Coutinho, it might be an incredible signing on the part of Newcastle United.

Of course, everything will end up depending on Aston Villa, who are believed to have an option to buy, and Coutinho himself.
