Newcastle United continue to be linked with one player after the other. Despite the progress that The Magpies have made since the turn of the year, they are still expected to splash out in the upcoming summer transfer window and it is clear that Eddie Howe’s side could do with reinforcements all over the pitch.

We have already seen them being linked with one Chelsea player in the form of Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and now, it looks like there is another name doing the rounds in the rumour mill.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored a stunning goal in Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final win over Crystal Palace but his long-term future at the club is up in the air. The Blues are expected to undergo a shuffle in midfield in the summer.

And as reported by 90min, Newcastle United is a possible destination for Loftus-Cheek, along with Crystal Palace and Lazio.

Would Loftus-Cheek be a good signing for Newcastle United?

Loftus-Cheek has been one of the most highly-rated players at Chelsea for a long time but he has never quite been able to take that next step and become a regular in their first-team.

It had looked like he was doing that under the management of Maurizio Sarri but then suffered a long-term injury, after which, he has never been able to rediscover that form.

Loftus-Cheek has all the physical and technical attributes to be one of the best midfielders in the world though and if he is available for the right transfer fee, a move for the Englishman could certainly be worth considering.

On top of his game, Loftus-Cheek can be a brilliant player. The question is if a manager can get the best out of him like Sarri did. Is he even capable of being that player anymore after the injury? He is still just 26 years of age though and should have plenty of football in the tank.
