There are a number of players that Newcastle United have been linked with in recent times. Surprisingly, one of the positions that they appear to be looking to strengthening in is goalkeeper despite the fact that Martin Dubravka has been solid with the gloves in hand for The Magpies this season.

Dean Henderson is someone who Newcastle United are believed to be interested in signing, with the England goalkeeper starting to get ahead of David de Gea in the pecking order at Old Trafford right now.

But recent rumours have suggested that Manchester United could look for a transfer fee around £40 million to sign him. Thus, it might be better for The Magpies to keep their options open.

Another high-profile goalkeeper that Newcastle United have been linked with in recent times is Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and he could prove to be a solid signing for Eddie Howe’s side if they can get him for a transfer fee around £30 million.

Why Kepa could be a good signing for Newcastle United

Kepa does not have a great reputation in English football when it comes to being a reliable goalkeeper but much of that is down to the struggles that he faced under the management of Frank Lampard when he just seemed to have lost his confidence.

Many would remember though that he was decent in his debut campaign for Chelsea under the management of Maurizio Sarri.

And since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, he appears to have regained his confidence. He might not be the first choice for Chelsea, but whenever he does play, he seems to do a very good job. And on top of that, he is excellent at saving penalties as well, even though things might not have gone his way in the League Cup final against Liverpool.

The biggest problem surrounds him is the fact that he is the most expensive goalkeeper in history. He has not been able to justify the fee that Chelsea shelled out to sign him. But if you can look past that and his early struggles at the club, you will see that he has developed into a very solid goalkeeper over the past few years and at for the right transfer fee, has the potential to be an excellent long-term signing for Newcastle United.
