Bruno Guimaraes sends incredible message to Newcastle United fans
Bruno Guimaraes was Newcastle United’s marquee signing of the January transfer window, having joined The Magpies from Lyon in a club record deal. Thus, it is safe to say that expectations were very high from the Brazilian but he did not enjoy the best start to life at St James’ Park. He has come into his own over the past few weeks though and how!
Guimaraes scored a brilliant brace against Leicester City, including a 95th minute winner. And it is safe to say that the performance has left the fans in delight.
On the other hand, Guimaraes seems to be enjoying his time at Newcastle United as well and appears to be targeting becoming a legend at the club already, which would be music to the ears of the supporters.
As reported by GOAL, while speaking to Newcastle United’s NUTV channel at full-time, Guimaraes said:
"“It was incredible [to] score my first goal here. The win was incredible. I’m feeling good. I need to speak my thanks to the fans, because the energy was incredible today.“I am very happy over here. We have settled in really well. I always wanted to play in the Premier League – it’s been a dream of mine, so playing for Newcastle has been very pleasurable.“I want to be a legend here. It’s special for me. I don’t have words.”"
Bruno Guimaraes declares he wants to become a legend after helping Newcastle United to victory against Leicester City
It goes without saying that it was an incredible moment for the Brazilian international who is starting to nail down his spot in Eddie Howe’s first-team.
It was a huge win for Newcastle United as well as it feels like they might have secured safety from relegation with that win. As they things stand, it looks like the club are in the running to finish in the top 10, something that would have been unthinkable a few months back. That’s how quickly things can change in football and life.
Coming back to Guimaraes, it is brilliant to see him starting to find his feet at Newcastle United and he is starting to look like an incredible player in the making. He is quite some way away from being a legend but moments like the one against Leicester City will live forever.
