Newcastle United took a massive leap towards safety with their 2-1 win over Leicester City at St James’ Park, thanks to a brace from Bruno Guimaraes which included a 95th minute winner. Thus, it is easy to see the progress that this side has made in such a short span of time. But at the same time, there is a lot of scope for further improvement.

Interestingly, one of the areas that the club are believed to be looking to strengthen in in the upcoming summer transfer window is goalkeeper, despite Martin Dubravka’s consistent performances between the posts.

Newcastle United have been linked with several goalkeepers over the past few months as a result, with one of them being Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

As reported by the Daily Star, Manchester United have set a £40 million price tag on Henderson. And while Newcastle United are expected to try to sign him in the summer, it is clear that it will not be easy to bring him to St James’ Park.

Newcastle United will have shell out huge transfer fee to sign Henderson from Manchester United

Henderson had managed to break into the first-team picture at Manchester United last season but has fallen behind David de Gea in the pecking order once again this time around. And as a result, it is believed that he could be on the move in the summer in search of playing time.

Henderson is a very good goalkeeper and could be a solid addition for The Magpies. But at the same time, one has to question if the club need to shell out a £40 million transfer fee to sign a goalkeeper at this point of time, with Dubravka doing an admirable job already.

It remains to be seen how things turn out in Newcastle United’s quest to sign a goalkeeper. Other than Henderson, they have been linked with more goalkeepers as well, including Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.
