Newcastle United have had their fair share of struggles with injuries in recent times as several of their players are out on the sidelines at the moment. There have been some positive updates in recent times though, as it has emerged that both Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are making good progress on their roads to recovery.

Another player who was added to the injury list in their previous game, against Wolverhampton Wanderers, was Ryan Fraser, who was forced off the pitch in The Magpies’ 1-0 victory on the day.

Fraser has been in good form in recent games and as a result, Eddie Howe would have been left sweating about his fitness status. Fortunately, it does not look like a huge problem, although he is a doubt for Newcastle United’s upcoming game against Leicester City.

Fraser had undergone a scan following the injury suffered against Wolves and the results are fairly positive. As reported by Chronicle Live, the Newcastle United manager said in his press conference:

"“I don’t think it’s too bad.“But it was enough to bring him off, we had a scan and it showed a very small problem. So hopefully it won’t be too long for him and we will have to see whether he makes this game.”"

One would hope that Fraser is back in the mix as soon as possible. But at the same time, it does feel like Newcastle United have enough options to cope with his absence on the short-term.

The upcoming game against Leicester City is a pretty interesting one for The Magpies. On one hand, it feels like they have already done enough to stay up in the Premier League and are safe from the drop.

On the other hand though, if Newcastle United are able to get a win against Brendan Rodgers’ side, they could be in the running to potentially finish in the top half of the Premier League table. That would have been absolutely unthinkable a few months back.
