Newcastle United could very well look to make a big splash in the upcoming summer transfer window. As things stand, it looks like they will beat the drop this season, thanks to their incredible run of form since the turn of the year, which has seen them be one of the most in form teams in the Premier League and in all of Europe. After that though, the focus should be on strengthening this team further, to the point where they can compete with the elite clubs consistently.

Despite shelling out around £90 million on transfer fees in January, Newcastle United are yet to make a big name signing. Could they end up making a statement in the summer though?

One player who appears to be in the sights of The Magpies is Paulo Dybala, who appears to be closing in on a Juventus exit in the summer.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Newcastle United are one of the clubs that Dybala’s representative will have spoken to, as he did a round of England and Spain.

Newcastle United have reportedly held talks for Dybala

Not too long ago, Dybala was considered as one of the most exciting talents in Europe and the successor to Lionel Messi in the Argentine national team.

Things have not gone his way in the past couple of seasons though, despite the fact that there is no question about his talent or potential.

Still just 28 years of age, Dybala should have plenty of football left in the tank though and could be a tremendous signing for many clubs, especially as a free agent. His current deal with Juventus is set to run out in the summer and at the moment, it does not look like an extension is around the corner.

If Newcastle United are able to sign Dybala, it would certainly make a lot of headlines. But would he be the right fit in the Premier League though? On a free transfer, it could very well be worth the risk to sign him and see if he is or not.
