It will very interesting to see how Newcastle United approach the upcoming summer transfer window. They have already made a splash in the January transfer window by shelling out around £90 million in transfer fees and one would expect them to continue strengthening their squad, if they do manage to stay up in the Premier League, which is starting to look likely as things stand.

The club have been linked with a number of players over the course of the past few weeks and months, and it is not hard to understand why. Since the change of ownership, expectations have gone up significantly surrounding St James’ Park.

It remains to be seen which of those rumours are true and which ones will go nowhere beyond the rumour mill. There is one permanent move though that Newcastle United are expected to pull off.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Newcastle United expect to complete the permanent signing of Matt Targett, who is currently on loan from Aston Villa.

Newcastle United are expected to complete permanent move for Targett

Targett has done a wonderful job since arriving on loan at Newcastle United and he is expected to leave Aston Villa in the summer as things stand.

It is believed that Newcastle United will have to shell out a £15 million transfer fee to sign Targett on a permanent basis from Aston Villa. Plus there is the loan fee, which is believed to include a bonus for Premier League survival.

Let’s see what the future holds for the left-back but it is safe to admit that he has become a regular part of Eddie Howe’s first-team already.

But then, there have been conflicting rumours about his future as well, as there have been some suggestions that Newcastle United might not end up signing him on a permanent basis. Only time will tell what’s going to happen and all we can do is wait and watch.
