Newcastle United must strengthen in one position this summer
Newcastle United have been linked with a wide number of players, capable of playing all over the pitch, over the past few months. And while the rumour mill never stops surrounding St James’ Park these days, it will be interesting to see the kind of moves that the club would actually try to pull off in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe has already shown his eye for talent by bringing in players who have made a difference, and helped guide The Magpies up the Premier League table.
There is a lot more strengthening needed though if they are to challenge clubs further up the Premier League table, on a consistent basis.
Thus, there are several positions where Newcastle United must strengthen in, in the summer. But one position that is in more urgent need of reinforcements over others is striker. The club do not have a reliable goalscorer in their ranks right now.
Newcastle United need to target a striker in the summer
Callum Wilson is Newcastle United’s top scorer this season but he has been out of action since December of last year.
On the other hand, Chris Wood was brought in from Burnley for a transfer fee around £25 million, but since coming in, he has found it difficult to score on a consistent basis.
Thus, it is safe to say that Newcastle United could do with a player who can score on a consistent basis for this side and if they can do that, it might be the start of their rise up the Premier League table next season.
It remains to be seen how things turn out though. And also, it will be interesting to see how Wilson does playing for an in-form Newcastle United team, which will provide him with the chances to score.
