Eddie Howe provides update on Ryan Fraser’s injury
One of Newcastle United’s biggest problems in recent months has been their injuries. Several key players have had to spend time on the sidelines and Ryan Fraser’s name might have been added to that quickly growing list, as he had to be brought off the pitch against Wolves.
It was a rare blot in a game that ended in a 1-0 win for Newcastle United against the 8th placed side, and could have potentially been enough to get them past the line of safety. We will know that after the end of the season.
Fraser had to come off early in the first half itself, with what looked like a hamstring injury and was replaced by Miguel Almiron.
Now, Eddie Howe has given an update on the situation and he did sound a bit worried about the situation, although the extent of the problem is not clear yet. As reported by Chronicle Live, the Newcastle United manager said about Fraser’s injury:
"“It looks like a hamstring issue. I don’t know how serious it is, but it was obviously enough to bring him off the pitch today, which is a huge blow with the form that he’s been in.”"
Eddie Howe gives update on Ryan Fraser’s injury against Wolves
Fraser has been a solid performer for Newcastle United since the arrival of Howe as manager. Thus, if he is out for any significant length of time, it would be a blow for The Magpies.
Fortunately for them though, Almiron, who came on as Fraser’s substitute against Wolves, ended up having a solid game himself. That is promising for the club moving forward. It must be pointed out that the Paraguayan international has been linked with an exit in the summer transfer window.
On the other hand, one can only hope that Fraser did not pick up a serious problem and he is able to return to the pitch as soon as possible. It is believed that he left St James’ Park in good spirits last night, which is a positive.
