On top of his game, Allan Saint-Maximin is arguably the most exciting player that Newcastle United have and is a handful for any defence in the Premier League. We have not seen his best for a while now though and in that situation, he does not bring a lot to the table for The Magpies. But at the end of the day, every team needs a talisman like the French winger.

But recently, there have been rumours that Newcastle United could let Saint-Maximin leave in the near future. Now, there appears to be some clarity on why that might be the case.

As reported by 90min, Newcastle United are open to allowing Saint-Maximin to leave the club in the summer. He has been pushing for a contract extension for much of this season and Eddie Howe is concerned by his hefty salary demands.

There have been suggestions that Newcastle United could look for a transfer fee around £50 million for the French winger. The likes of Wolves and Everton have been linked with a potential move.

Now, there is no doubt that Saint-Maximin is a very important part of this Newcastle United team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 29 appearances this season. But at the same time, Howe has to make sure that the balance remains at St James’ Park.

Also, if the club are able to receive a transfer fee around £50 million, that would be a huge boost to their plans of strengthening this squad further.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Saint-Maximin. But if Newcastle United do end up parting ways with the French winger, they must also make sure that they bring in someone with similar qualities.
