Newcastle United have been linked with a number of players over the past few months and one of them is Watford’s Ismaila Sarr. He has been a standout performer for The Hornets for a long time now. They find themselves in the middle of a relegation battle though and as a result, his long-term future at the club is pretty much up in the air at the moment.

According to stats from the Premier League’s official website, Sarr has scored 5 goals and provided an assist in 17 appearances for Watford this season till now.

He has also been linked with a move to Liverpool for a while, having put in a sensational performance against Jurgen Klopp’s side a couple of years back.

He could finally be closing in on a Watford exit though and it looks like he has already received the green light to do so. As reported by The Sun, Sarr’s advisor Thierno Seydi told Senegal outlet APS:

"“We have the green light for Ismaila to leave Watford.“In their strategy, nothing will stop him from leaving if they receive an interesting offer for him.“But only the future will tell where he will end up – at the moment there are rumours and interests in him, but nothing concrete.”"

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Sarr in recent times and it is safe to say that if they are able to sign him, it would be considered as a major coup on their part.

Not only has Sarr been a major part of this Watford team in recent years, but he has played a key part for the Senegal national team as well, in their Africa Cup of Nations win and qualification to the World Cup.

He is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around £25 million, with his current deal with Watford running out in the summer of 2024. Interestingly, Allan Saint-Maximin is being linked with a Newcastle United exit in recent days. Thus, could this turn out to be a case of one winger in, one out for The Magpies?
