Newcastle United want to sign exciting Bundesliga winger

Newcastle United have been linked with several players over the course of the last few months, including one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga right now, and it is not hard to understand why. The club are expected to make a big splash in the summer transfer window, if they can stay up in the Premier League. They have taken significant steps in that direction over the past several months and a win or two more could guarantee The Magpies safety.

Interestingly, recent rumours have suggested that the club could be ready to let Allan Saint-Maximin leave in the summer. The French winger has not been able to impress in recent times, although he is a brilliant player when on song.

While Saint-Maximin is being linked with a Newcastle United exit, the club are being linked with another French winger in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have identified Diaby as a winger who they would like to add to their squad. There is expected to be a lot of competition for his signature though.

Diaby has been a standout for Bayer Leverkusen in recent times in both the Bundesliga and the Europa League.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Diaby has scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in 36 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen this season across all competitions. Those are terrific numbers, especially considering the fact that the French international is just 22 years of age and would be expected to get even better as he gains more experience.

Thus, it is safe to say that someone like Diaby has the potential to be an excellent signing for Newcastle United but it will not be easy to bring him to St James’ Park. His current deal with Bayer Leverkusen runs till the summer of 2025.
