Newcastle United have already made some major additions to their squad in the January transfer window. And these new signings have had the desired effect on their performances and results as well, as the once relegation-threatened club have moved up the Premier League table considerably and now, one cannot rule out the possibility of them making a run for a top ten spot.

It remains to be seen how things turn out moving forward, as relegation has not been completely ruled out yet, but it does feel like The Magpies have done enough to stay up in the Premier League.

They have been one of the most in-form teams in Europe since the turn of the year. And one would expect them to make further additions to their squad in the summer.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the club’s scouting team are set to hold a number of meetings this week to organise summer targets. And the positions up for discussion are believed to be goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfield, winger and striker.

With the change in ownership of the club, expectations around St James’ Park have increased multi fold over the past several months.

Now, not only are the club expected to stay up in the Premier League but they are also expected to advance up the Premier League ladder and eventually start competing for titles, both domestic and European.

Of course, that might be quite some distance away yet but many people expect The Magpies to enjoy a rise similar to the one Manchester City have done over the past decade or so.

For that to happen, they have to keep on improving and the next summer transfer window is going to be very vital for Newcastle United. Let’s see who Eddie Howe brings to the club this time around.
