Newcastle United are expected to make some significant additions to the squad in the summer transfer window despite the fact that the club have already made multiple signings this year. And the new arrivals have managed to make an impact on the team’s performances as well, as they have quickly risen up the Premier League table and a top ten finish is not out of the realms of possibility now.

That might have been unthinkable a few months back, when the Magpies were one of the favourites to drop down to the Championship. Thus, the players deserve a lot of credit.

But at the same time, Newcastle United cannot stop improving and their next target must be on competing for an European qualification spot in the near future.

Perhaps surprisingly, the club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent times despite Martin Dubravka’s consistent performances between the post. And journalist Pete O’Rourke has raised doubts about his future at St James’ Park. As reported by GiveMeSport, he said:

"“I’m not too sure Dubravka will be happy to be number two at Newcastle. It’ll be interesting to see if that’s the case.”"

Doubts raised over Dubravka’s future at Newcastle United

Dubravka deserves a lot of credit for the job that he has done for Newcastle United with the gloves in hand and he is one of the biggest reasons behind the club’s improvement since the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager.

But at the same time, if the manager believes that somebody else can be brought in, who would improve the team as a whole, then consideration has to be given towards that.

Newcastle United have been linked with several interesting names like Dean Henderson, Kepa Arrizabalaga and others in recent times. And it remains to be seen if The Magpies end up making a move for any of them in the summer.

If Dubravka does want to leave, there should not be any lack of interest in his signature, from clubs in England and beyond.
