Newcastle United star forced to leave national team due to injury
Newcastle United head into the business end of the season in good shape. Despite losing their previous two games, against Chelsea and Everton respectively, The Magpies are in a solid position in the Premier League and while safety is not guaranteed yet, a win or two more might be all they need to stay up in the top flight. They do have tough run of fixtures coming up though.
Newcastle United still have to face the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City, Wolves and Leicester City. Crystal Palace can prove to be a tough opposition as well. And depending upon the results of these games, the away trips to Norwich City and Burnley could end up being very vital.
Thus, it goes without saying that Newcastle United would want to have their best players available moving forward. They have been handed a worry in that regard though.
As reported by 20 minutes, Fabian Schar has left the Switzerland national team due to an injury and will not take part in their upcoming two friendlies, against England and Kosovo. It looks like an abductor problem.
Newcastle United’s Schar will not feature for Switzerland in the next two games
It will be interesting to see the extent of Schar’s injury. With the upcoming games being friendlies, it is very possible that Switzerland might have decided not too risk him more than anything else.
All we can do right now is hope for the best and see what the update on the situation is in the coming days.
It goes without saying that Schar is a very important part of the current Newcastle United side. He has played the full 90 minutes in every Premier League game for the club in 2022 and even captained The Magpies for the first time, against Everton at Goodison Park.
