Newcastle United will be expected to strengthen their squad further in the upcoming summer transfer window. While The Magpies are not completely safe from relegation yet, it does feel like they have done enough to stay up in the top flight and a win or two more will get them past the line of safety. After that, the target must be on moving up the table and eventually challenging for European spots and titles.

For that to happen though, they might need to make a few more signings. But recent rumours have suggested that Newcastle United’s transfer budget will be less than the £90 million that they shelled out in January.

Thus, do not expect superstar arrivals as The Magpies will need to make smart signings. Eddie Howe does have a knack for pulling them off though.

As reported by Pianeta Milan, Newcastle United have their eyes on a move for Renato Sanches. It might take a €30 million transfer fee to sign him from Lille but AC Milan appear to be leading the race for his signature as of now.

Newcastle United have their eyes on Sanches

Sanches might be just 24 years of age but he has already had an eventful career. He was one of the most highly-rated players in the world while coming through the ranks at Benfica and would get a huge move to Bayern Munich as a teenager.

It did not work out for him in Germany though and he even struggled during a loan spell at Swansea City. But his performances for the Portugal national team have always been solid and he has enjoyed a career revival since moving to Lille.

Thus, it might be a great time to make a move for someone like Sanches. Newcastle United will face heavy competition for his signature though. The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder recently as well.
